Disfear, A brutal sight of war - LP

Disfear, A brutal sight of war - LP

Official re-release! Black vinyl! - Disfear are from Sweden, born from the ashes of Anti-bofors. In October 1992 the band recorded their eponymous debut EP in Sunlight Studios under the guidance of famed Entombed-producer Tomas Skogsberg. Encouraged by the overwhelming response, Disfear went back to Sunlight and cut the classic "A Brutal Sight Of War".

With a DIS in the name is very clear what these dudes are about: on "A Brutal Sight Of War" they deliver nine tracks of Discharge-ish d-beat crust hardcore with harsh toxic vocals, discore riffs and fast tempos.

Finally, after 14 years available on vinyl again through La Familia Releases! Comes in 350 gram inside/out sleeve with 400 gram lyric sheet and 180 gram vinyl!

Martyrdöd, List - LP

Martyrdöd, List - LP

MARTYRDÖD List is Martyrdöds 6th album and i am just blown away. They really outdid themselves. Brutally raw and powerful like always, with even more forceful melodies lined up in incredible pace, thick and tight sound and overwhelming darkness this album has the reminiscence of classic swedish deathmetal/hardcore paired with the metal driven Dtaktcrustpunk Martyrdöd already brought to perfection. A mean and aggresive outlook on the state of todays life and world. // European vinyl edition in cooperation with D-takt & Råpunk licensed from Southern Lord.

Disfear, Live the storm - LP

Disfear, Live the storm - LP

Official re-release! Comes in 350 gram inside/out sleeve with 400 gram lyric sheet! Adding Entombed guitarist Uffe Cederlund to a group that already features At the Gates singer Tomas Lindberg has created a death'n'roll supergroup - and one of the best heavy records of 2008. Converge guitarist Kurt Ballou produces.

For those who are unfamiliar with Disfear, it is basically a mix of a lot of hardcore punk with a lot of metal to create a product that is simply loud, in your face and unrelenting.

Disfear fit that description perfectly. "Live The Storm" is a 35 minute assault of heavy power chords, pounding drums and bass, layered with southern sounding leads and throat wrenching yells.

Disfear deliver one hell of an intense ride. "Live The Storm" doesn’t let up from the start of the southern tinged "Get It Off" until the end of the 7 minute explosion that is "Phantom". The band leaves no cracks in their wall of sound and come out sounding powerful and extremely energizing. This is a must for anyone who loves intense and unrelenting music.

Disfear, Everyday slaugther - LP

Disfear, Everyday slaugther - LP

Crushing Swedish hardcore originally released in 1997 and of print on vinyl ever since. Disfear combines the intensity and bleak anti war imagery of Discharge and early UK bands with the heaviness of Swedish Death Metal and Crust. The result is like a sledgehammer to the walls of ignorance and oppression built up around us by the system. A blast of raw anger and pure hardcore power.  Full color gatefold. Europe, order from La Familia/Kink Records.

Nightmare, Give Notice Of Nightmare..LP

Nightmare, Give Notice Of Nightmare..LP

Housed in a 350 gram cover and contains a sheet with japanese lyrics and English translations! First release 1990 on legendary Selfish Records!

When it comes to japanese hardcore, it seems that a lot of people are obsessed with ADK or Dogma Records. Solid labels of course, but when I think to the label that defines japanese classic hardcore sound, I only have one name in my mind: the legendary Selfish Records.

This label has released over the years so many classics by even more classic bands such as Death Side, Gauze, Outo, Systematic Death, Lip Cream and many others. Not to mention all their classic compilation LPs. Such a great label!

Along with Gauze & Warhead, Nightmare is one of the few classic japanese bands that never broke up and it's still going strong after all these years. But when it comes to their records, 1990's "Give Notice Of Nightmare" LP is their highlight moment. Perfect sound, incredible songwriting.

I can't find anything to complain about 'coz there's nothing wrong here. Classic metallic japanese hardcore/punk in one of its finest moments.

Highly recommended!

Disfear, Soul scars - LP

Disfear, Soul scars - LP

25 year anniversary edition! Available in the States from Havoc Records! - Originally released in 1995 via Distortion Records, now re-released via La Familia Releases!

Forming around 1989, Disfear took elements from both crust and death metal scenes to effectively reinvent the Swedish sound. It is from Disfear's influence that we have seen the likes of Martyrdod, Warcollapse, Wolfpack (now Wolfbrigade), and countless others. Disfear simply took the things that made the Swedish death metal scene so effective such as ferocious/anxious vocals and pummeling drums and put them into the arena of d-beat punk. The result added new dimensions to the genre's sound.

Arriving on the scene in Sweden, the band would tour with much of Sweden's metal royalty such as Entombed and Dismember. This happened in part because the band did not have many sonic contemporaries in Sweden at the time. Another innovation made by Disfear was the shift from political commentary on war to the fatalistic and psychological impacts war makes. Again, the band's lyrics also showed influence from the realm of death metal.

Gone were the cries for peace and protest against government warmongers and replaced by the resignation that the war was lost. The band's debut LP "Soul Scars" spells this out perfectly. Themes of psychological trauma and irrevocably broken lives from war replaced the politically charged battle cries that Discharge once made.
