Absolutely great thrash metal from Berlin.
The kids have their root into the political punk scene and their statement "The idea was to kill posers, pseudo metal idiots, and to create an own sound. And for sure to go on many tours, drink a lot of beer, and present musical aggression. Loud and fast!" says it all.
Great recording, great songs and great artwork.
What else should I say?? Buy or die!

Panikos, awakening from lethargy - LP

Their first release in over 10 years, this is a crushing return by Greek crust innovators PANIKOS. I was actually quite floored by how unique this album sounds; it’s a perfect joining of 90’s UK/European style crust with an overdriven industrial backdrop. Layers of atmospheric synth backup some absolutely solid metal punk riffs that bring to mind as much KILLING JOKE as it does mid-career AMEBIX. Lyric insert in both native Greek and English, there is definitely a little lost in the English translation, although I couldn’t help but try to sing along to the chorus to the track “Nyxta Taraxwn” (‘Riotnight’). If you are into the recent offerings by Prank-backed Polish industrial crusites PESD (also highly recommended), I suggest you check out this fantastic comeback record from a somewhat overlooked gem of the 90’s. PANIKOS manages to keep their sound fresh and relevant, and it is refreshing to hear a release with this much style and attitude. (Rob Hanna)

Juggling Jugulars, 80 million barrels - LP

Being around for a mere of 20 years now relentless rocking the squats and underground venues and driving thousands of miles through europe in their rusty tour van; JUGGLING JUGULARS are by far the longest serving (?) Finnish Punk Band to date. And the nicest people to imagine. 14 years passed since we worked together and now thanks to JUGJUG and Kämäset Levyt we can present the already 21st release to date and they seem to never run out of ideas and topics nor get even slightly tired. This slap of vinyl contains 9 all new tracks of catchy, melodic anarcho punk that is riddled with dual fe/male vocals and tunes and melodies that merge into a wall of full throttle and straight forward rolling guitars riffs and heavy drumming. It's all too easy to claim and say that this is their best release to date, but i fear it´s simply close to that fact.. Hence i never came close to a more diverse JUG JUG recording yet. 20+ Years going strong and still ungovernable. I only have a limited amount of this record available and its a one time press of 600 copies in total.

Jealous Cowards, s/t LP

The Intro track on this album reminds me of a classic rock styled song. It was pretty cool albeit a bit sloppy so I had a feeling that it wasn’t the style of the whole album. The first song kicks in with a faster and more distorted, faster version of the intro. This song sets the record off to a very energetic start. The song is definitely the most catchy on the album and one of the most upbeat making it my personal favorite track. The music has a very 80’s hardcore sound with a modern feel to it. They tend to stick in the mid paced range never going too fast or too slow. The distortion used is very light giving that vintage punk rock feel to it. Anything heavier would take away the personality of the music and would just sound like any other punk band. I like that they are not afraid to do things that would normally not be done on a punk record like the classic rock intro and the use of a harmonica at the beginning of another. The vocals are yelled adding to that 80’s sound. They are gruff enough to not be singing but light enough to feel some emotion behind them. The vocalist is well suited to his duties and brings the whole band together making it into a wonderful orgy of punk rock music to your ears. This is a band that can stand on its own merits while paying homage to early hardcore bands without stealing the sound of these bands and without coming off as another generic band looking to fuck the system. It is a breath of fresh air when you get a band that is doing something different than the current trends and doing it well. This band has reminded what I loved about those bands. (Travis Assault)

Instinto, s/t LP

Instinto is new band from Barcelona, Spain they formed in 2011 but the members were (are?) involved in many bands such as Totälickers, Afganistan Yeye’s, Infäme, Disundead, Hijxs Taradxs and others. Here we have their first lp which was released in 2012 by Svoboda Records and is also available for streaming in bandcamp. The record consists of ten tracks and an amazing blending of crustcore, D-beat with hints of metal and to be more specific, Swedish Death Metal: The usual D-Beat drumming is fast and steady, bass is heavy pounding, guitar sound is thick and solid with a metal edge, the crust/hardcore riffs are here and also some leading guitar parts add some melodies that paint the songs and remind Wolfbrigade, Skitsystem, Tragedy, From Ashes Rise and the likes. The singer has a nice and throatty voice and delivers the goods, he sings in Spanish and is accompanied by some screamed/yelled backing vocals. Lyrics included in a sheet (why not English translation?) and sound quality is great. All and all this is a great release full of power and energy, there is no weak spot in the record, everything was made the way has to be.This is probably still available so check Svoboda Rec.s or the labels/distros listed in this page. Future plans include a second lp on Svoboda and a split ep with Rhukkus from Mexico.

Frustration, paranoia and regret - LP

Fuck yes! The opening licks hinted towards a bit of Born Against influence, which I’m all for, but suddenly the speed dial gets turned up to the likes of which BA never cared to reach. Mixed into the equation are some great gruff vocals (ala Jack Control) and an awesome concoction of Scandi-core and Northwest depression influence (think Wipers’ “Over the Edge” and you’re getting warmer). In their thanks list, they mention people who have helped them on tour, which elates me to no end; the possibility, no matter how remote, of being able to see a great, newly discovered band is what makes punk rock worthwhile to me. Two years after their split LP with ALPINIST, here is the first own album by Finisterre from Cologne/Germany. “Bitter Songs” is a record full of melancholic songs about the bitterness of life. Expect dark, but melodic Hardcore sorrounded by a heavy D-Beat drumming and fronted by a brutal female voice. Finisterre have been compared to FALL OF EFRAFA and SCHIFOSI in the past, but still managed to create their own interpretation of modern crust. Recorded by Zett in the Tonkeller, Eisenberg and mixed/mastered by Robin Völkert (Now Denial, Dean Dirg). The LP comes with a huge 20-page booklet with all lyrics and explanations to the songs.
